Bratmobile is that band that was a band before they were REALLY a band.  Huh?  Back in Oregon ‘91, Allison Wolfe and Molly Neuman were running a feminist zine called Girl Germs.  Although they didn’t know how to play instruments, they began talking to others about being in a band… peeps took them serious and before they knew it, they were booked to open for Bikini Kill!

They eventually learned the craft and became one of the most influential riot grrrl bands of all time with their raw mix of garage, surf-punk, and a touch of pop!

This week, Kill Rock Stars has re-released Bratmobile’s 1993 debut album, Pottymouth on beautiful pink wax.  The album is chock full of hits!  Party-boogie-bangers like “Cool Schmool,” “Fuck Yr. Fans,” and The Runaways cover, “Cherry Bomb,” bring immediate power to the record, while songs like “Bitch Theme,” “Polaroid Baby,” and “No You Don’t” exercise a more subtle approach to heavy attitude.  True grrrl power at its best! <3

Also, if you haven’t check it out yet, we highly recommend the book Girls to the Front about the history of the Riot Grrrl movement, including lots on Bratmobile!
