Sometimes, nothing beats a solid cover of a song you already know and love. On the other hand, my world feels totally rocked when I discover a song I love is nothing more than a great tribute.
It’s been a minute since our last covers playlist, so we thought we’d put together a fresh mix of tributes for this next Cool-Tite Playlist. We got Dead Moon covering the classic rock standard “Hey Joe” (popularized by mr. Jimi Hendrix) followed by Japandroids with their cover of a Dead Moon classic. Then there’s Bleached covering The Damned, The Gun Club doing their best CCR, The Meteors bringing their psycho stop to a Black Sabbath classic, Thee Commons paying tribute to OG Peruvian garage rockers Los Saicos, ADULT. showing their roots with a Screamers standard, Shannon & The Clams showing they can take on the prowess of Grace Slick/Jefferson Airplane‘s “White Rabbit,” and then both The Dictators‘ ’75 version and The Ramones ’79 version of “California Sun.” Plus a grip more.
