Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats at the Fonda Theatre

We were very much looking forward to seeing Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats at the Fonda Theatre. We caught them at the end of their North American Night Creeper Tour. Straight outta Cambridge, England, this UK band is a bad-ass mix of heavy psychedelic and metal. Metal Blade Records said it best: “Imagine the original Alice Cooper band jamming in a cell with early Black Sabbath and the Stooges, whilst sitting on murder charges…” That should give you a pretty good idea.

Crystal, Mat, and I walked into the Fonda and were greeted by a crowd that looked exactly as you would expect: denim vests, leather jackets, and long, greasy hair. The crowd and the show were wild! Everyone was into it the entire time – head-banging and singing along in the pit. You could say some were a little too into it, as midway through the set a girl fight broke out next to us. Meanwhile, on stage, Uncle Acid powered through a mixture of old and new songs, making a point to say, “I want to see you get crazy for this one Los Angeles,” and then jamming right into “I’ll Cut You Down,” off their awesome 2012 album, Blood Lust. Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats rule!

Check out our photos from the night, and def check out The Night Creeper out on Rise Above Records.
