Mind Meld LP

Mind Meld is what’s crackin’ right now in Los Angeles!  Not only do they have a fresh debut LP out today, but they’re also smack in the middle of their February residency at The Echo.

Test Pressing

If you haven’t yet heard of Mind Meld, then I’m sure you’ve probably felt their presence in LA music.  Together, the members of the band are involved in running record labels (Mock RecordsPermanent Records), stocking racks of choice vinyl at local record stores, or otherwise gigging around town (Jesus Sons, Hooveriii, etc.).

After a stellar 7″ tease last year, these cats have followed through with a solid, self-titled debut LP.  The record drops today, February 17th, on Permanent Records.  Pick it up HERE.  Best act quick tho! Aside from the 30 copies of ultra classy looking, totally DIY test pressings that sold out like lightning, there’s a limited first run of 300 gatefold copies available now – 150 on silver (pictured) and 150 on black.  And we’re told future pressings are coming but won’t be the fatty gatefold copies!

We’ve been spinning this record on loop since getting our copies!  For me, it feels like the type of record that takes on a different feel depending on where the volume is set on your dial – from sparkly psych to heady nugs of jammage.  The record kicks off in a slurried haze with the damn catchy track “The Blizzard,” and then dives right in to a fresh version of their sticky 2015 single, “The Viper.”  Tracks “Hole” and “Brains” both start with funky little diddies and a more direct oration, but all that fades as you feel the head bangin’ riffs fill the room.  Heavy, but never hard.  The record closes with another standout track entitled “Lucy”, which will not only leave you with the chorus stuck in your head, but also with a solid reminder about the LSD we need to do.  The whole record is available to sample below via Spotify 😉

Mind Meld Residency Flier

Be sure to catch as Mind Meld continue their month-long, weekly residency this Monday at The Echo.  They’ve recruited some serious local bangers to share the stage with them each night, including Frankie and The Witchfingers, The Birth Defects, Flat Worms, and Death Valley Girls! We’ll have some pics to share soon, but in the meantime, peep the dope Blind Blind Tiger session below!
