The Coathangers at The Echo
The Coathangers are sups impressive. Seriously.  Every damn time time we catch them, they do nothing more than just be them-badass-selves on stage. Yet the result is always a sweaty room of smiling, dancing faces. Rusty, Minnie, and Crook-Kid Coathanger each make being cool and punk rock look so easy, especially the way they trade instruments seamlessly throughout their set.

For their most recent LA appearance, The Coathangers were celebrating the release of their new album, and fifth in their ten years as a band, Nosebleed Weekend (Suicide Squeeze Records).  If you haven’t dipped into tracks like “Squeeki Tiki,” “Make It Right,” or “Watch Your Back”…. Then you be missing out!!  The grrrls stomped through an almost hour and a half set that never tired and kept the whole place ablaze throughout.

And to make for an ultra-stacked bill, The Coathangers had support from local faves Death Valley Girls and Death Hymn Number 9.  We admittedly missed openers DHN#9, but we heard the zombie punks brought the ruckus.  DVG are amping up for their debut album, Glow In The Dark (out 6/10 on Burger Records), and their rockin’ retro sounds were as Tite as ever!

And be sure to catch The Coathangers with Plague Vendor as they support Refused at The Fonda on 05/27/2016 and The Glasshouse on 05/28/2016!
