“We Who Wait” was released by Anchor Records as the B-side to the “Safety in Numbers” single by The Adverts in the year of punk, 1977. Written by T.V. Smith, the song is pretty easy to overlook when dipping in to catalog of The Adverts, since the album Crossing The Red Sea With The Adverts was released shortly after the single in 1978 and is regarded as one of the best punk albums of all time. However, later pressings and CD releases of The Red Sea began to include “We Who Wait” as a bonus track, making the track much more accessible.
In 2006, the master of modern garage punk, Jay Reatard brought new life to “We Who Wait” on his 2006 solo debut, Blood Visions, on In The Red Records.
